"The List"

I hate labels. While eating breakfast this morning Sara and I discovered that we were on "the list"- this list was distributed (without our knowing) to all the students in the missions program as possible students to interview for some project. All semester the International Club has been trying to get us involved but I really don't like the idea of being labeled as an international. I know that I really am one but for some reason I don't think I need to be in the club. Not sure why this bothers me so much but it makes me feel really uncomfortable to be though of as an international student. I just want to be Jen-not Jen from Canada or that girl that's not from here. Perhaps I'm a conformist-that's my problem, there you go...

Peace Like A River.....

We've all heard it before....God will give us peace. Peace that passes all understanding, peace I give you, peace I leave with you and all the other time it's read in context. But did you ever think about it? Peace like a river. Yesterday I was watching a Beth Moore veido with my SFG. For those who aren't fimilar with Beth Moore, she is an amaizing woman who is extremly passionate about God's word. She heads up Living Proof Ministries going all over the country leading women in seminars, publications and DVD studies. I'm doing one of her studies called "Fruit of the Spitit: Livng Beyond Yourself" I have never been so challenged in my short journey as I am with her teaching. Yeasterday the study foucsed peace. She said something like this: ...have you ever considered why God says he will grant you peace like a river? She went on to explain that God doesn't say peace like a pond, lake or any other still body but a river! Something moving, active and consistantly the same. Never changing it's form or direction.
I actually wrote this blog last week but for some reason didn't finish it. I needed this reminder today. Consistant peace comes with consistant submission.

Ongoings...

I've only been here a few months and already I feel like I'm planning for the rest of my life. Essentially that's what I've been doing for the last 5 years but I'm only realizing it now. Perhaps that's why I'm still in school. Next week is Spring Registration (already). I met with my advisor today and I think we've figured it all out. I will be done in Dec. of next year! Then I will work on a six month internship and officially be done after that. But the good news is I only have 2 semesters of "work" left. I think I've had enough of this school thing, too bad that it's only now that I'm getting excited about my classes. Next semester I'm officially taking ten classes, that sounds like a lot but it's not really, it's 17.5 credit hours and 2 classes that I don't get any credit for plus I'm auditing a really cool class called ministering to children in crisis (after a million years in school I have no more room for electives!). I figure if I get it all done at once then I won't have to do the 4th semester here. It's finally neat to see that everything is coming to an end essentially I really haven't know what I wanted so there was never an end in sight. But now as long as I'm involved in the area of spiritual formation the learning will never end as it's finally getting the attention it deserves in the local church-things are always changing and improving. Perhaps I'll be in school forever...
